Next Level Escaperoom Eindhoven

Marijn Hummelink and Sil Michels founded the company in January 2015. They wanted to create a concept that could offer a full package right in the centre of Eindhoven. Some place where the escape room would lie at the heart and where people could enjoy a snack and have a drink at the same time and location. It didn’t take long before they ended up at the Oude Rechtbank where, after short negotiations, they decided to go ahead with their idea.

At the end of May 2015, Escaperoom Eindhoven opened their first room “The Suspicious Farmhouse”. It rapidly became clear that the storyline, use of technology and creativity differed from other escape rooms. At that moment in time, they were ranked second in Eindhoven and about 50th in the Netherlands. One year later almost 200 new escape rooms were built in the Netherlands, but there was only one that collected so many excellent reviews that they were awarded the 3rd best escape room in the Netherlands.

At the end of April 2016, Sil and Marijn managed to sell their concept to a Dutch couple living in Aruba. They rented a building space, gathered all components (big and small) of the escape room, built it up in parts and tested the room as much as possible. The next step was to transport it to Aruba. This happened mid-July 2016 by boat and the entire escape room arrived on location in Aruba 3 weeks later. At the beginning of August, a team of experienced builders flew to Aruba and constructed one of the top-class escape rooms in the Netherlands in only 2 weeks. Setbacks were quickly overcome and hard work compensated for any lost time. Less than 2 weeks later, Escape room Aruba opened its doors to the general public.

At the beginning of January 2018, one of our employees came up with a completely new concept and put us on top of the map. The name “EscDating” became a true concept and received quite some attention on TV, radio and in various magazines. We were featured in Editie NL, Omroep Brabant, Glow FM, Q-Music, 3FM, ED and Flair. There was a real run on it and people loved the idea of escaping and dating at the same time!

In May 2017, the Next Level Escaperoom owners became full-time entrepreneurs and started their biggest project yet: building one of the best escape rooms in the Netherlands. After almost 12 months of constructing and testing, a completely working 4D experience was created from scratch. The website, company style and branding also received a make-over and Next Level Escaperoom Eindhoven was born. On 14 May 2018, the newly built high-tech escape room opened its doors to the public and the exuberant reactions of the first visitors confirmed the latest sensation in the Netherlands. A few months later, the masterpiece was crowned the number 1 escape room of the Benelux on the independent review site EscapeTalk.

In March 2019, we started building a high-tech mobile escape room for Sioux Technologies. This project, which had a very tight deadline (Techfestival Strijp-S on 20 May), required close cooperation with several companies to turn it into a success. A few days before the start of the Techfestival, the complete experience was working to perfection! We are very proud of this achievement!

We got off to an amazing start and are eager to see where it will bring us in the future! One thing is for sure, we will continue to entertain people for years to come!
